Studied singing at Bratislava’s Academy of performing Arts under Viktoria Stracenska. Since graduation he has been a soloist of the Opera of the Slovak National Theatre and has won prizes at several competitions, including the Antonin Dvofak in Karlovy Vary (1978), the Tchaikovsky in Moscow (1982) and the Miriam Hellin in Helsinki (1984). As well as his engagement at the Opera he is a frequent guest in Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Rome, Madrid, Lisboa and Tokyo. Peter Mikulas is also heavily involved in concert performance (singing works by bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, Brahms, but also contemporary music), which he sees as a vital opportunity to extend his repertoire to chamber and oratorio works of all periods. As soloist he has appeared with leading domestic and foreign ensembles at the world’s major venues, including Vienna’s Musikvereinsaal and Konzerthaus, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Royal Albert Hall in London, and at events such as the Salzburg and at events as the Salzburg and Edinburgh festivals, the Prague Spring and Bratislava.
