Ludovit Ludha graduated at the University of Dramatic Arts – Music Faculty in the class of Professor Vlasta Hudecova. During his university studies he took part in a tour of Beethoven’s C–Dur Mass in Italy. Since 1988 he has been soloist of the Slovak National Opera Bratislava. Winner of the Singer´s Competition of the Czechoslovak Art Universities, he made his opera debut singing in Schonberg´s Moses und Aron at the Salzburger Festspiele with James Levine.
Highlights of his past engagements include such performances as Faust at the Jerusalem Festival, Alfredo in La Traviata in Japan, Roméo et Juliette (Roméo) and La Bohéme (Rodolfo) at Prague National Theatre and at the State Theatre Karlsruhe, Iris at the Teatro dell´Opera di Roma with Nicolai Ghiaurov and at the Wexford Festival, Mefistofele, Don Carlo, Cosi fan tutte and La Sonnambulla in Bratislava, Šárka (Fibich) at the Wexford Festival and, more recently, Jenufa in Prague and Die Tote Stadt in Kyoto.
In addition to his vast operatic repertoire, Ludovit Ludha maintains an active concert schedule with orchestras throughout the world. Here his repertoire includes works such as Mozart´s Requiem (Ankara, Salzburg, Prague, Athens), Dvorak´s Stabat Mater (Ankara, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Leeds, Manchester), Carmina Burana (Bologna, Cagliari, Roma), Haydn´s Nelson Mass (Milan), Bach Cantatas (Torino), Janaček´s Glagolitic Mass (Trieste, Ravenna Festival, Udine, Lisboa, Prague, Liverpool, Leipzig, Amsterdam, Berlin, Tai Pei as Taiwanees premiere,), Mozart´s Krönungsmesse (Salzburg), Le Noces by Stravinski (Berlin with Ashkenazy and recorded for DECCA) as well as Kodaly‘s Te Deum, Psalmus Hungaricus, Bartok´s Cantata Profana (Sao Paolo), Requiem by Verdi and Dvorak, Stabat Mater by Rossini.
Since 1999 he performformed the role of Lensky in Evgenij Onegin Bratislava, later in France, King Roger in Montreal and at Carnegie Hall New York, Mozart´s Requiem in Prague with Neville Marriner, Lady Macbeth of Mcensk in Madrid, whereupon he performed the same role in Naples, Munich, Dijon, Teatro Colon Buenos Aires, amongst others under the baton of Mstislav Rostropovich, to Monpellier for Janaček´s The Macropulos Case (Vitek), to Bratislava for Haydn‘s Seven Last Words, to Paris for Oedipus Rex with Dutoit, to Tai-Pei for Glagolitic Mass, to Budapest to take part with Ligeti in Rachmaninov´s The Bells, to Manchester and Leeds for Dvorak´s Requiem and Stabat Mater.
Since, he returned to Budapest for Oedipus Rex, sang the Glagolitic Mass with MDR Sinfonienorchester with Janowski, Prokina, Tarasova and Kotcherga in Leipzig, Szymanowski Symphony No. 3 in Paris, Jenufa and La Boheme in Prague, Berlioz´s Te Deum, Beethoven´s 9th Symphony, Dvorak Requiem, Rigoletto and The coq D’or in Bratislava, Carmina Burana with Daniele Gatti in Bologna and Parma. He obtained acclaimed succeses singing Korngold’s Die Tote Stadt and King Roger with Dutoit in Tokyo, Janaček’s Amarus at the Teatro Sao Carlos Lisbon, Carmina Burana at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and La Sposa Venduta at Teatro Comunale Bolgna.
